Explorers

Explorers

Explorers are interactive scenario tools that build on—or run alongside—your baseline plan. They help you stress-test retirement success, compare strategies, and answer what-if questions without replacing the core orchestration workflow.

Explorer pages present strategy cards and controls for running simulations against the current plan context.

Available explorers

Explorer Purpose Jurisdiction
Monte Carlo Probability of plan success across randomized market paths All
What If… Adjust returns, spending, retirement age—compare without permanently changing baseline until applied All
Market Risk Explorer Stress-test portfolios against adverse market scenarios All
Debt Payoff Explorer Compare debt repayment strategies, lifetime interest, and payoff timelines All
Social Security Explorer Claiming age strategy cards and benefit comparisons US
Roth Explorer Conversion timing, projected balances, IRMAA/RMD/tax impact charts US
CPP / OAS Explorer Canadian government benefit claiming scenarios Canada

Navigation hides explorers that do not apply to the plan jurisdiction. IRMAA insights and Social Security tools require US tax context; CPP/OAS tools require Canadian context.

Monte Carlo simulation

1

Complete a baseline run

Finish a successful Run Calculation so Monte Carlo has deterministic inputs to stress-test.

2

Open Monte Carlo explorer

Select Monte Carlo under Explorers in the left navigation.

3

Run Monte Carlo Simulation

Click Run Monte Carlo Simulation. Progress uses a separate async path from orchestration.

4

Review success rate charts

When complete, review success rate and distribution charts. Metric #16 (Retirement Chance of Success) on Overview reads Monte Carlo output when available.

Overview may show a Monte Carlo suggestion card when simulation would add value. Do not conflate Monte Carlo progress strings with Orchestration_Status__c picklist values.

What If…

Use What If… to tweak isolated variables (returns, spending, retirement timing) and compare chart outcomes. Changes are analytical overlays until you apply them to baseline inputs and rerun orchestration.

Market Risk Explorer

Models adverse market conditions against the current asset mix. Use after a baseline run to understand downside exposure separate from Monte Carlo’s full distribution.

Debt Payoff Explorer

Compare accelerated payoff strategies against minimum payments. Review lifetime interest tables and charts; cross-check with Metric #13 (Lifetime Interest Payments) on Overview.

Social Security Explorer

Presents claiming strategy cards for US households. Pair with Income page Social Security rows and the IRMAA insight for Medicare premium impacts.

Roth Explorer

Models conversion timing, tax brackets, and projected Roth versus Traditional balances. Overview may surface a Roth conversion suggestion when the engine identifies an opportunity (Metric #20).

CPP / OAS Explorer

Benefit timing scenarios for Canadian households. The Income page Run CPP & OAS Simulation action can feed estimated benefit amounts into income inputs before a full orchestration run.

Explorer results are analytical overlays. Confirm material strategy changes on the baseline plan with a full Run Calculation before client delivery.
